A volunteer engineer, Charles Edward Dilkes, left the comforts of high society to shoulder a shovel and a rifle to serve his country. She will also discuss the areas mentioned in the book, along with Georgia's own Moina Michael, who originated the poppy as a symbol of remembrance for WWI. Buddy poppies from Georgia V.F.W. will be given out.
