The Facilities Assistant performs basic and routine maintenance tasks at all Cherokee County library facilities, ensures regular maintenance of library vehicles, and serves as back up to the library courier.

This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

Location:     R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway, Canton, GA

Salary:           $10.00 – $12.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications

Schedule:      Part-Time, 17 hours per week. Work schedule will vary and flexibility is required.

Schedule may eventually include a combination of day, evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities:  Performs directed maintenance on Cherokee County library facilities.

Ensures regular maintenance of library vehicles by inspecting, cleaning, and scheduling repairs as needed; maintains vehicle service records.

Serves as back up courier to all Sequoyah Regional Library locations.

 

Qualifications:      High School Diploma or equivalent.

                                    Valid Georgia Driver’s License and good driving record.

Comparable work experience is highly desirable.

 

Skills & Abilities: Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire, and security systems;

Working knowledge of common tools, appliances and devices; manual dexterity; problem-solving skills; flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others; ability to communicate effectively.

 

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, climb ladders, and lift loads of 50 lbs.

Work is performed in climate controlled library settings as well as outdoors.

This frontline position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way. The Library Assistant also aides in maintaining the materials collection.

Salary:                 $8.24 per hour

Schedule:            Part-Time, 17 hours per week. Work schedule will vary and flexibility is required.

The library is open 7 days a week. Schedule can include a combination of day, evening and weekend hours.

 

Responsibilities:         Deliver quality customer service to patrons of all ages. Perform basic circulation operations for all library materials. Perform procedures for shelving, shifting and shelf reading.

 

Qualifications:                  High School Diploma or equivalent.

                                                Experience working with the public and/or customer service background is preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities:        

Customer service experience and basic computer skills.  Flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others; operate job-related  equipment; problem solving; meet, communicate and deal with people effectively.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of books of no more than 30 lbs.; push filled wheeled book carts; frequent stooping,  kneeling and crouching.

Must be able to shelve materials, which involves repetitive hand movement.

The library is open 6 days a week. Schedule can include a combination of day, evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities:

Branch Manager – Cherokee County

Branch Manager – Cherokee County

(Full-time 40 hours per week)

The branch manager is an experienced, energetic, and innovative individual ready to lead the daily operations of a busy and growing library branch and implement library policies and procedures. The manager will also collaborate with staff members to help develop and implement library programs and services, as well as develop community partnerships and community goodwill. This position reports to the Assistant Director.

Location:     Hickory Flat Public Library, 2740 East Cherokee Drive, Canton, GA 30115

 

Salary:        $32,000 – $42,000 a year depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule:       Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day, but may include night and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Embrace and practice the library mission, vision, values, and applies them to daily operations and decisions.

Communicate branch activities regularly to supervisor and participates in leadership and

Oversee all daily operations of the library branch, including submission of branch supply orders and maintenance of library facility and grounds.

Lead a strong team of workers, including delegating tasks and developing the skills of direct report staff.

Supervise and coordinate the activities of employees including determining work procedures, work schedules and maintaining leave requests; issuing instructions and assigning duties;
reviewing work; recommending personnel actions; conducting performance reviews; and conducting departmental training and orientation.
Communicate with youth services, adult services and circulation branch coordinators regularly to ensure that we offer materials, services and programs designed to meet patron needs.

Seek to engage in community relationships and perform outreach when necessary.Measure, communicate and report impact of branch services, including maintaining monthly reporting.

 

 

Additional Duties:
Interpret and carry out library procedures.

Monitor branch financial transactions.

Disseminate important information to staff in an effective and timely manner.

Serve at public desks as necessary and addresses patron concerns and complaints in an effective and timely manner.

Work with collection services to maintain, evaluate and provide guidance in the way of library collection.

Proactively stay aware of library trends and changes and participates in continuing education.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Supervisory experience, preferably in a library setting.

Knowledge of library principles, practices, systems and techniques.

Minimum of two years of public library experience.

Progressively responsible library experience preferred.

Valid Georgia Driver’s License and good driving record.

Skills & Abilities:
Proficient computer skills and a high level of comfort with technology.
Superior time management and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively to determine proper course of action.
Ability to contribute to the growth and development of the branch.
Flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others; operate job-related equipment; problem solving; meet, communicate and deal with people effectively.
