Gilmer County Library in Ellijay Debuts Free Digitization Service

Ellijay’s Gilmer County Library, a branch of the Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS), has debuted a new in-house digitization service which provides equipment for visitors to convert their videos, slides, and negatives to a digital format. This digitization service is available, at no cost, to all members of the community. Acceptable formats for preservation include DVD/VHS, slides, and negatives. Appointments to use the digitization service can be booked online on the library system’s website on a first-come, first served basis. This service is made possible in part by a grant awarded by Faith Hope and Charity.

“The library is excited to introduce this great new service to the community,” says Alex Thomerson, Gilmer County Library Manager. “Patrons can now visit the library to convert impossible to replace formats into an easily accessible digital file. Also the great thing about this equipment is it’s easy to use and completely free!”

Contact the Gilmer County Library at 706-635-4528 for more information about materials eligible for digitization. To schedule an appointment for the Gilmer County Library’s digitizing service, please visit sequoyahregionallibrary.org/services-2
