There’s a Chimp Sanctuary in North Georgia?! Project Chimp is a lifelong care facility for former research chimpanzees at a 236-acre forested sanctuary in Morganton, GA that includes a forested six-acre habitat where chimpanzees can forage, climb, and play with no caging overhead. Meet the team who are working to bring more than 220 chimps from the lab to permanent sanctuary. Project Chimps is rarely open to the public; come see pictures and video of the chimps and learn about chimpanzee behavior. The team will even teach us how to “speak” chimpanzee! For all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult.
