The Facilities Assistant performs basic and routine maintenance tasks at all Cherokee County library facilities, ensures regular maintenance of library vehicles, and serves as back up to the library courier.

This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

Location:                             R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway, Canton, GA

Salary:                                  $12.00 per hour

Schedule:                            Part-Time, 17 hours per week. Work schedule varies.

                                               

Responsibilities:              Performs basic and routine maintenance tasks at Cherokee County Library buildings and grounds under the supervision of the Facilities Manager. Assists Facilities Manager with maintenance projects. Ensures regular maintenance of library vehicles by maintaining service records, scheduling repairs, cleaning, and general inspection.

Serves as back up courier to make deliveries to all Sequoyah Regional Library locations.

 

Qualifications:                  High School Diploma or equivalent.

                                                Valid Georgia Driver’s License and good driving record.

                                                   Comparable work experience is desirable but not required.

                                               

Skills & Abilities:             Entry-level understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Ability to use common hand tools, including basic power tools. Problem-solving skills. Manual dexterity and physical flexibility. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively. Ability to follow instructions. Dependability is essential.

                                               

Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend and stand for prolonged periods, carry and climb ladders to

perform basic duties, and lift loads of up to 50 lbs.  Work is performed in climate controlled library settings as well as outdoors.

The service associate is central to customer service, providing timely assistance to patrons and responding to a variety of requests. This frontline position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way. The service associate also aides in maintaining the materials collection.

Salary:                                  $8.49 per hour

Schedule:                            Part-Time, 17 hours per week. Work schedule will vary and flexibility is required.

                                                 Schedule can include a combination of day, evening and weekend hours.

 

Responsibilities:             

Deliver quality customer service to patrons of all ages. Perform basic circulation operations for all library materials. Perform procedures for shelving, shifting and shelf reading.

 

Qualifications:                 

High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with the public and/or customer service background is preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities:            

Customer service experience and basic computer skills. Flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others; operate job-related equipment; problem solving; meet, communicate and deal with people effectively.

 

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of                      books of no more than 30 lbs.; push filled wheeled book carts; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching.

Must be able to shelve materials, which involves repetitive hand movement.

Assistant Branch Manager – Ball Ground

 The Assistant Branch Manager is central to maintaining the relationship between the public, staff and the material services we provide. They ensure that materials flow in, out and around in a well-regulated manner, striving to deliver the right item at the right time. The Assistant Branch Manager communicates regularly with the branch manager and branch staff on daily developments in the branch. This frontline position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way and supervises circulation staff and activities. This positon reports to the Branch Manager.

Salary & Benefits:    $25,708.80 Annually, Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System.

 

Schedule:    Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day, but will include nights and weekends.

 

General Job Functions:      

Performs all management duties and serves as acting manager in absence of branch manager. Understands and performs advanced circulation operations.

Coordinates notices between the library and patrons, email, postal, and telephone communications.

Engages in conflict resolution and problem solving.

Supervises and trains circulation staff.

Implements standards and practices for the delivery of quality customer service.

Develops strategies and resources to stay well-informed and train others.

Demonstrates ability to meet information seeking needs of users.

Performs collection maintenance with reports and deselection.

Encourages users to follow library policies.

Maintains library equipment and orders supplies.

Gathers data for reports and data entry.

Ensures proper order of collection, and near orderly appearance of public areas.                                              

 

Education & Experience:   Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Supervisory experience, preferably in a library setting. Knowledge of library principles, practices, systems and techniques.

Minimum of two years of public library experience preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities:   Proficient computer skills and a high level of comfort with technology. Superior time management and organizational skills. Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively to determine proper course of action. Flexibility to work independently and collaborate with others.
