This position is responsible for guiding system-wide library marketing, with the goal to connect and convey.  This position develops and implements strategies that increase the community’s awareness of library services and programs.  The Marketing Manager designs, coordinates and implements library messaging for the community, patrons and staff, including print, social media and electronic messaging.

Salary &Benefits:

$45,000-$50,000, salary is based on qualifications and experience. Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective and engaging means of communication between library staff and the public, ensuring public knowledge of events and services.
  • Use multiple formats and channels to communicate with library users, potential users, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures all library communications are consistent with library identity and branding, with a unique and recognizable voice.
  • Maintains a consistent image of the library by building one message upon another to increase overall impact.
  • Develops measurable objectives to review and evaluate the success of marketing strategies and communications programs.
  • Promote events and services to the public with news releases, event submissions, signage, and other communication outlets.
  • Develop and manage engaging content for an e-newsletter system and library social media accounts.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends that can be utilized to engage library users, potential users, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the content of the system website, ensuring an engaging web presence and effective dissemination of information and maintain the online calendar of events.
  • Formulates innovative and comprehensive goals, plans, and procedures for implementing library marketing, monitoring the changing needs of these populations and revising marketing initiatives as appropriate.
  • Delivers library presentations to patrons, organizations, and community groups.
  • Document and preserve library success with photos and narratives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience working in community relations related field; Library experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak and write Spanish preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Skills reflecting a high level of comfort with technology, presenting to large groups.
  • Ability to focus on specific work tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic math and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances; to deal tactfully with staff and the public; to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and the public.
  • Ability to set and complete goals, tasks and projects, demonstrating project management, manage multiple ongoing projects.

 

Physical Demands:

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs’ functions require significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling and/or crouching; stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; manipulate and lift up to 30lbs. Work performed in a climate controlled environment.
