    Support Your Library Community support allows us to thrive. Here are ways you can help. Material Donations SRLS accepts material donations, up to 10 items, based on the following guidelines: Books (hardcover, paperback, trade, board, large print) published 2020 or later Audiobooks published 2020 or later DVDs and Blu-rays (no date limit) Games/Puzzles High demand/popular/best selling series and authors (any publication date) Examples: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dork Diaries Agatha Raisin mysteries Debbie Macomber We do not accept the following: Magazines VHS tapes Audio Cassettes Encyclopedias Textbooks Any item in poor condition or that has writing, personal inscriptions, strong odors, or stains. Patrons wishing to donate more than 10 items and up to 5 boxes or items that do not meet donation guidelines have the following options: The Better World Books drop box in the R.T. Jones parking lot. The Woodstock Public Library, Pickens County Library, and Gilmer County Library will accept large donations on Tuesdays or Thursdays, 11am-5pm. Financial Gifts Financial gifts support our collection, programs and other library services. By making a gift, your money will be used for the greatest need of SRLS, unless otherwise directed. Financial gifts can be made online, via mail or in-person. To gift via mail or in person, please complete the Financial Donation Form (upload form) and mail or drop it off donation to one of our locations. Kroger Community Rewards Any transactions using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Kroger donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating Kroger Community Rewards organizations. The program is simple. If you shop at Kroger, you probably have a Kroger Plus card. When you register your Kroger Plus Card online, you can then select Sequoyah Regional Library as the organization of your choice. The SRLS Community rewards Account number is MW313. Friends Of The Library Anchor FOL Each of our counties has a Friends group in operation. These groups are made up of volunteers who organize themselves independently to support our libraries. What does a Friends group do? Advocate for the libraries and library services, spreading the word about libraries and lifelong learning. Raise and contribute funds for supplemental books, materials, equipment and library programs. Volunteer to help with special library events, collaborative community efforts and reading programs for children and adults.     National Library Week 2024 Adventure awaits at Sequoyah Regional Library System! ​ From Sunday, April 7 through Saturday, April 13, celebrate National Library Week with Sequoyah Regional Library System. This year, your local public library is celebrating all the different ways your library card can help you choose your own adventure. From beginning your culinary adventure by checking out a cookbook to beginning your musical adventure by checking out a ukulele, your SRLS library card is your ticket to discovery. During National Library Week, see SRLS in your community! Visit our Pop-Up in the Park at Calvin Farmer Park in Ball Ground from 10am to 11am on April 9, our Storytime in the Park at the Downtown Woodstock Playground from 10am to 11am on April 12, and our Pop-Up Library at Woofstock Ellijay from 10:00am to 4:00pm on April 13. Call or come into any of our libraries during National Library Week (April 7-13, 2024). Notify the staff member that you wish to take advantage of fine forgiveness and they will waive up to $15 from your account. Some fees may be excluded from this offer. 2. Who is eligible? All cardholders are eligible to have up to $15 of their overdue fines forgiven. 3. Can I have fines forgiven for others? Yes, if you have that person’s materials in-hand, or if you are a responsible party on that person’s library account. 4. Can I call the library and ask to have my past fines cleared? Yes, you can call any of our branches, but make sure you have your card number handy when you call! 5. Which fines will be forgiven? New and existing overdue fines. 6. What items and fees are not eligible? Overdue materials that have not been returned Fees from Unique National Collections (This fee cannot be forgiven because it is assessed by another agency.) Lost items Damaged and unusable items Items from other library systems/ institutions 7. Can I replace lost materials? Unfortunately, we will not be able to forgive charges on your account for a lost or damaged item or accept a replacement in lieu of payment. If there are any overdue fees associated with an item you can have them waived during the fine forgiveness program. 8. What if I paid my fine last month? Can I get a refund? Unfortunately the library is unable to issue refunds for fines previously paid.

  • Hickory Flat Project | Sequoyah Regional Library

    Hickory Flat Public Library Construction Project HOW LONG WILL THIS PROJECT TAKE? WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE RENOVATION AND EXPANSION? The Hickory Flat Public Library will be renovating and expanding its facilities in 2023. Construction is projected to begin in January 2023. The project, which is scheduled to last approximately twelve months, includes a renovation of the Hickory Flat Public Library building, originally built in 1993. The library’s current 10,000 sq. ft. will be expanded and 7,800 sq. ft. will be added. Hollandsworth Construction is leading the construction project. With an expanded and renovated library facility, the Hickory Flat community will have more space for books and technology; larger areas for programs, meetings, collaboration, and creation; and additional seating for study and quiet reading. HOW IS THE LIBRARY FUNDING THE RENOVATION AND EXPANSION? The total construction contract for the Hickory Flat Renovation & Addition project is $6,754,039.00. Funding for this project is available from Cherokee County’s SPLOST program. Additional funding includes a $2,000,000 Capital Outlay Grant, administered by the Georgia Public Library Service. These grants are funded by the sale of bonds and must be approved by the state legislature. HOW CAN I ACCESS MY LIBRARY WHILE CONSTRUCTION IS ONGOING? The Hickory Flat Public Library building will be closed to the public, after service hours end November 26, for the entirety of the construction. Your Hickory Flat Public Library card can be used at any Sequoyah Regional Library System location. During the construction, you can still maintain library access by using your library card at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library location in Canton, or at any of our neighboring libraries in Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer Counties. Patrons of the Hickory Flat Public Library are encouraged to visit these locations, which offer the full range of library services they are accustomed to. To prepare the building for closure, reservations to use the Hickory Flat Public Library’s Community Room will no longer be accepted. Free Wi-Fi will still be available in the parking lot of the Hickory Flat Public Library through December 23. CAN I STILL RETURN MY BORROWED MATERIALS TO HICKORY FLAT PUBLIC LIBRARY AFTER NOVEMBER 26? No. When the Hickory Flat Public Library closes on November 26, the outdoor book return box will be closed as well. Hickory Flat Public Library patrons are encouraged to return their borrowed items to another Sequoyah Regional Library System location. WHICH LIBRARIES ARE CLOSEST TO THE HICKORY FLAT PUBLIC LIBRARY? Hickory Flat community members may use their Hickory Flat Public Library card at any location within the Sequoyah Regional Library System. The nearest SRLS libraries to the Hickory Flat location are the R.T. Jones Memorial Library at 116 Brown Industrial Parkway in Canton and the Woodstock Public Library at 7735 Main Street. WHERE WILL HICKORY FLAT PUBLIC LIBRARY STAFF BE LOCATED DURING CONSTRUCTION? Staff members of the Hickory Flat Public Library will be working at other Sequoyah Regional Library System locations in Cherokee County for the duration of the construction project. WILL THE HICKORY FLAT PUBLIC LIBRARY STILL HAVE PROGRAMS AND EVENTS DURING CONSTRUCTION? Library programming, such as weekly storytimes and upcoming holiday events, will continue and take place at all other Sequoyah Regional Library System locations. Jones Memorial Library on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 7:00pm. The celebration will include food, live music, and commemorative remarks from community leaders. “As we have prepared for the celebration, it has been amazing to look back and learn about the evolving role of our library in Canton over the past 100 years,” says Angela Cortellino, Executive Director of SRLS. “The R.T Jones Memorial library has been an integral part of the community and an important necessity. It is exciting to celebrate the past 100 years and begin the next 100 years of service.” Leading up to the 100th Birthday Gala on Saturday, September 9, R. T. Jones Memorial Library will begin celebrating the occasion on Thursday, September 7, by welcoming community members to visit the library and make birthday cards through September 9. On Friday, September 8, join History Cherokee at R. T. Jones Memorial Library for an educational look into the history of Cherokee County. Finally, on Saturday, September 9, R. T. Jones Memorial Library invites young patrons to a Birthday Bash at 10:30am, with games, food, and music before the final celebration that evening at 7:00pm. “I’ve enjoyed learning more about how the library began in Cherokee County and watching the changes unfold through the years through pictures,” says Lisa Fowler, Branch Manager of R. T. Jones Memorial Library. “From its humble beginnings supported by private book donations to becoming an important part of the community, the R.T.
