This customer focused position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way. Individuals in this position can expect to spend 60% of their time preparing and implementing library programs, 20% of their time leading the SRLS Teen Advisory Board, 10% of their time conducting outreach relevant to the teen population, 5% of their time assisting with system programming implementation, and 5% of their time making title recommendations for young adult collections. Flexibility is required. Responsibilities: Design, implement and evaluate a variety of programs and services appropriate to the identified interests and developmental needs of teens. Demonstrate creativity, openness to new ideas, knowledge of a variety of tools and techniques, flexibility and a sense of humor to create interesting and engaging programs. Oversee the SRLS Teen Advisory Board (TAB), including but not limited to recruiting members, leading regular meetings, guiding officers and their duties, managing TAB-led programming, connecting members to volunteer opportunities and recording volunteer hours, and maintaining regular communications. Promote teen library services directly to teens through school visits, library tours, etc., and through engaging caregivers, educators and other teen-serving community partners. Prepares publicity for programs through print designs and online via social media. Demonstrate broad knowledge and appreciation of teen literature, including authors and publishers. Working with collection services to build a collection designed to meet the needs of the teen community, recommending the selection of young adult collections at all branch locations. Pursue a variety of information sources, including popular media, to keep current on topics relevant to teens. Provide a schedule of teen programs for inclusion in system wide promotional materials in a timely manner. Work with the Programming Manager to maintain communication and collaboration with branch staff. Maintains a forward-thinking and positive mindset, and actively pursues resolution when conflict arises. Demonstrates a strong sense of self-motivation and displays the ability to move library tasks forward whether that be individually or with a team. Cultivates and maintains positive staff relationships on all levels. Communicates effectively and positively with a wide variety of team members internally as well as individuals externally (patrons, program presenters, and community partners). Work with the Programming Manager to help implement system programming as needed including but not limited to Local Author Market and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Graduation. Assists with duties in absence of Programming Manager. Understand and adhere to the mission, values, and vision of the library organization and maintain current knowledge, trends and development through continuing education. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 1 year job related experience; preferably working in a library or with the public in a customer service or retail field. 1 year job related experience in program or event planning and/or working with youth. Bilingual ability is a plus in serving a diverse community. Skills & Abilities: Ability to be creative, promote new ideas and identify a variety of tools and techniques to create interesting and engaging programs. Skills in program presentation and speaking in public. Skills reflecting a high level of comfort with technology. Ability to perform basic math; understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances; to deal tactfully with staff and the public; to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and the public. Ability to understand and perform library procedures. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of no more than 30 lbs.; move and manipulate inventory; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching. We offer proctoring services (for a fee) to learners and working professionals at all locations. Proctoring We offer proctoring services (for a fee) to learners and working professionals at all locations. To schedule an appointment, contact the location of your choice. SRLS is not responsible for mailed, faxed, or emailed exams not received by the college, institution or business. Proctoring Fee: $20.00 per test, payment due before testing, must be cash or card. SRLS Proctors agree to: Verify the student’s identity with a photo ID. Supervise the exam by having the student take the test in a study room or table near their desk. There might not be a private testing area available. Provide space for test-taking. However, there may not be a separate study room available. Sign paperwork and seal the envelope of the finished exam and call for it to be picked up. Staff will not deliver exams to the post office or Fedex/UPS store. Staff will not provide letters or telephone calls to the school to confirm receipt. A reply to an exam received by email will serve as confirmation and receipt. SRLS proctors are not responsible for keeping copies of completed exams. Provide a computer to complete most online testing. SRLS accepts no responsibility for internet connections and outages that may occur. We cannot install any software on our computers. Tests must be completely web-based. The test taker agrees to: Contact the library to schedule an exam with the Public Service Specialist. Appointments should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Proctoring is available only during regular hours when sufficient staff is available. Tests must be completed 30 minutes prior to closing. Verify with library staff that the library and proctor meet the requirements of the school/institution. Verify that the physical environment at the library meets your test-taking needs. Pay proctoring fees in cash or by credit card before the test can be taken. Pay fee for each individual test, including retaking a test. Provide photo identification to verify identity before taking the test. Pay for postage and other expenses incurred, such as photocopying or printing. Copying/printing: $0.15 per page.

Celebrate National Library Week with Sequoyah Regional Library System. Fine Forgiveness National Library Week 2025 Adventure awaits at Sequoyah Regional Library System! From Sunday, April 6 through Saturday, April 12, celebrate National Library Week with Sequoyah Regional Library System. This year, your local public library is celebrating all the different ways our community is drawn to the library. From our wonderful staff, incredible community, and amazing supporters, we are delighted to be your dynamic destination for discovery. Sequoyah Regional Library System is going fine free during National Library Week! From April 6 through April 12, call or come into any of our libraries to take advantage of our fine forgiveness program. See below for details. 1. How does it work? Call or come into any of our libraries during National Library Week (April 6-12, 2025). Notify the staff member that you wish to take advantage of fine forgiveness and they will waive up to $15 from your account. Some fees may be excluded from this offer. 2. Who is eligible? All cardholders are eligible to have up to $15 of their overdue fines forgiven. 3. Can I have fines forgiven for others? Yes, if you have that person’s materials in-hand, or if you are a responsible party on that person’s library account. 4. Can I call the library and ask to have my past fines cleared? Yes, you can call any of our branches, but make sure you have your card number handy when you call! 5. Which fines will be forgiven? New and existing overdue fines. 6. What items and fees are not eligible? Overdue materials that have not been returned Fees from Unique National Collections (This fee cannot be forgiven because it is assessed by another agency.) Lost items Damaged and unusable items Items from other library systems/ institutions 7. Can I replace lost materials? Unfortunately, we will not be able to forgive charges on your account for a lost or damaged item or accept a replacement in lieu of payment. If there are any overdue fees associated with an item you can have them waived during the fine forgiveness program. 8. What if I paid my fine last month? Can I get a refund? Unfortunately the library is unable to issue refunds for fines previously paid.

Whether you are interested in applying to be an appointed member of the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) or would like the flexibility of volunteering when you can, the Sequoyah Regional Library offers volunteer opportunities for all interested 6th - 12th grade students who live in Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer counties. The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) application opens every year in mid-April and closes mid-May. Appointed TAB members attend monthly meetings and events, plan and lead library programs, and complete volunteer hours. During this application period, all rising 6th - 12th grade students who reside in Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer counties are eligible and encouraged to apply. Teen Advisory Board Application The Auxiliary Teen Advisory Board (TAB) application is open year-round to all interested 6th - 12th grade students who reside in Cherokee, Pickens, and Gilmer counties. Auxiliary TAB is meant to provide a flexible opportunity for a student to volunteer when it fits their schedule and does not include mandatory meetings or a minimum volunteer hour requirement.
