- 3D Printing | Sequoyah Regional
3D Printers are available to the public to make three-dimensional objects in plastic using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request. 3D Printing Please review the 3D Printer Policy and Guidelines for Use before submitting a request. Reserve to use one of our 3D printers! Hands-on 3D printer use is available to SRLS cardholders ages 18 and older. Policy: 3D Printers are available to the public to make three-dimensional objects in plastic using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request. The Library’s 3D printers may be used only for lawful purposes. The public will not be permitted to use the Library’s 3D printers to create material that is: Prohibited by local, state or federal law. Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. (Such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer.) Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment. In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection. Users must complete a 3D Print Request Form before their print job is accepted. Print jobs must be under three hours, unless approved by library administration. Only Library staff or patrons with a completed user waiver will have hands-on access to the 3D printers. Cost per gram is posted prominently near the machines and is established by the County Library Board of Trustees which may change the fee at any time by action of the Board of Trustees. Guidelines for Use (Library Staff Led 3D Print Request): Complete a 3D Print Request Form before print job is started. Print jobs more than 3 hours may not be available for immediate print. Cost of printing will be 15 cents per gram minimum charge of $3.00 per each print job. You will be notified when your print job is complete. Items printed will be picked up within 7 days during regularly scheduled library hours, after which they will become property of the Library. Items must be picked up by the individual who requested the print job. Print time will be scheduled by library staff. PLEASE NOTE: A “complete” print job does not always mean “successful.” The library will still notify you of completion even if it does not come out perfectly. Reprints will only be available in the event of machine malfunction. Failed prints due to errors within the 3D model (print file submitted) will still be charged for materials used. All print jobs are pending until approved by library staff. You can estimate the print duration for your 3D object using Cura Lulzbot, this 3D printing calculator, or comparing your 3D object to one of our samples shown later in this form. 3D printer users must remain on the library premises until the completion of their 3D print. Cost of printing will be 15 cents per gram minimum charge of $3.00 per print job. 3D printer filament will be provided by the library. Print time will be scheduled by library staff based on your request. Please wait to receive a confirmation of your reservation before coming to the library to print. The Hickory Flat Renovation and Expansion Project officially began on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 with a celebratory groundbreaking featuring Sequoyah Regional Library System staff and board members turning the soil with Cherokee County officials and the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce. SRLS News Hickory Flat Public Library Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting July 26, 2024 Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS) celebrated the official opening of the Hickory Flat Public Library on Thursday, July 25, with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony hosted by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. “This library is all about people and spaces,” says Angela Cortellino, Executive Director of SRLS. “We still have books, with better browsing. We still have technology. But what you will find in here are some unique spaces. These spaces are meant for people to gather. For people to meet. For people to connect, explore, discover.” Speakers in attendance included Pam Carnes, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, and Library Trustee, Eric Rein, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Chair, and Library Trustee, Tom Hill, Chair of the Cherokee County Library Board and Sequoyah Regional Library System Board, and Commissioner Richard Weatherby. The finished renovation of the Hickory Flat Public Library building, originally built in 1993, includes an addition of 7,800 square feet to the building. With an expanded and renovated library facility, the Sequoyah Regional Library System community will have more space for books and technology; larger areas for programs, meetings, collaboration, and creation; and additional seating for study and quiet reading. Discover Sequoyah Regional Library System this National Library Card Sign-Up Month SRLS News Discover Sequoyah Regional Library System this National Library Card Sign-Up Month August 26, 2024 City of Jasper Mayor Kirk D. Raffield visited the Pickens County Library on August 24 as part of the Mayor’s Reading Club initiative. Mayor Raffield along with City of Jasper Fire Chief John Sherrer read storybooks aloud to community members in attendance. “Reading is critical to a child’s development and as Mayor I’m dedicated to advocating for literacy,” says Mayor Rafield. “The recent event was full of laughter and smiles. Jasper Fire Chief Sherrer read to the kids and then we had time outside with fire trucks and police cars.” The event took place in the Pickens County Library Flex Room, then continued outdoors where community members could interact with fire trucks and police cars. “This event was a success thanks to our partnership with the Pickens County library,” continues Mayor Raffield. “I look forward to additional Mayor’s reading club programs being held at the library. Thanks to the amazing library staff for your help and dedication to our community.” Launched in 2022, the goal of the Mayor’s Reading Club is to improve literacy skills and success with early reading in children and youth in Georgia cities. The program is a part of Georgia City Solutions, a Georgia Municipal Association nonprofit. < Back R. T. Jones Memorial Library Celebrates 100th Birthday Aug 14, 2023 The Sequoyah Regional Library System welcomes all members of the public to attend the 100th Birthday Celebration of the R. T. Jones Memorial Library on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 7:00pm. The celebration will include food, live music, and commemorative remarks from community leaders. “As we have prepared for the celebration, it has been amazing to look back and learn about the evolving role of our library in Canton over the past 100 years,” says Angela Cortellino, Executive Director of SRLS. “The R.T Jones Memorial library has been an integral part of the community and an important necessity. It is exciting to celebrate the past 100 years and begin the next 100 years of service.” Leading up to the 100th Birthday Gala on Saturday, September 9, R. T. Jones Memorial Library will begin celebrating the occasion on Thursday, September 7, by welcoming community members to visit the library and make birthday cards through September 9. On Friday, September 8, join History Cherokee at R. T. Jones Memorial Library for an educational look into the history of Cherokee County. Finally, on Saturday, September 9, R. T. Jones Memorial Library invites young patrons to a Birthday Bash at 10:30am, with games, food, and music before the final celebration that evening at 7:00pm. “I’ve enjoyed learning more about how the library began in Cherokee County and watching the changes unfold through the years through pictures,” says Lisa Fowler, Branch Manager of R. T. Jones Memorial Library. “From its humble beginnings supported by private book donations to becoming an important part of the community, the R.T. This position communicates regularly with the Branch Manager and branch staff on daily developments in the branch. This position ensures that materials flow in, out and around in a well-regulated manner, striving to deliver the right item at the right time. This customer focused position anticipates and meets the needs of users in the most visible way, supervising/training branch staff and directing daily branch activities. Individuals in this position can expect to spend 30% of their time assisting the public, sometimes from a library service desk, 50% of their time assisting with circulation/collection maintenance, and 20% of their time completing managerial and leadership tasks. Closing Date: 9/4/2025 Start Date & Location: October 1, 2025 / Woodstock Public Library, 7735 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188 Salary & Benefits: $36,670.32 Annually, Paid Annual Leave, Sick Leave & Holidays. State Health Benefit Plan, Flexible Benefits and Teacher Retirement System. Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week. The schedule includes a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This library is open 6 days a week. Work schedule will vary, and flexibility is required. Responsibilities: Demonstrate general knowledge of the library automation system in use and specific knowledge of the operations that apply to circulation procedures Understand and perform circulation operations for all library materials (including but not limited to check-in, check-out, renew, place holds, process holds, financial transactions, recordkeeping, etc.) Access the OPAC (online catalog) and use a variety of tactics to locate items in the collection (via subject heading, author, title, keyword searches, etc.) Understand and perform procedures for shelving, shifting, shelf reading and weeding. Deliver quality customer service, greeting the public in a welcoming, professional manner. Assist the public in locating, selecting, and using resources. Encourage users to follow library policies; apply good judgment when deviating from official policies and procedures. Proactively interacts with the public to ascertain what they need and ensure they find it. Educate and train staff in the library in circulation procedures and inform them of changes; supervise and train staff. Communicate branch procedures, daily activities and changes to all staff. Engage in conflict resolution and problem-solving. Coordinate notices between the library and the public via email, postal, and telephone communications. Maintain voter registration records and ensure timely submission of registrations. Perform computer data entry. Handle financial transactions, count money and make change accurately; run daily reports and manage branch level financial duties as needed. Run reports and coordinate maintenance of records in the database for assigned branches. Provide assistance to the Branch Manager as needed by managing reservations, accepting donations, assisting with special library events, etc. Inform Branch Manager of employee issues and building needs. Assist at service points and provide staff support as needed. Maintain confidential cardholder, circulation databases, and transaction records. Perform collection maintenance with reports and weeding. Perform all management duties and serve as acting manager in absence of Branch Manager. Understand and adhere to the mission, values, and vision of the library organization and maintain current knowledge, trends and development through continuing education. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 2 years working in a library setting, with progressively responsible library experience (circulation experience is preferred). Bilingual ability is a plus in serving a diverse community. Skills & Abilities: Skills reflecting a high level of comfort with technology. Ability to perform basic math. Understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work with others in a variety of circumstances; to work tactfully with staff and the public; to communicate effectively with supervisor, staff and the public. Ability to understand and perform library procedures. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time; lift boxes and crates of no more than 30 lbs.; move and manipulate inventory; frequent stooping, kneeling and crouching.
